Weekly Stock Market Review (15th to 19th November 2021)

In the third week of November 2021 trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange, Seventeen companies’ securities recorded trades with Shoprite Holdings as the highest priced security in comparison to week three of November 2020 which only recorded eight companies with Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines as the highest priced security. Fridays’ equities trading was the best performance of the week. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES CORPORATION LIMITED, AIRTEL, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, INVESTRUST, LAFARGE, PAMDOZI, ZAMBIA REINSURANCE, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, SHOPRITE HOLDINGS, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBIA SUGAR and FIRST QUANTUM MINING. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 5,440.89 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K65,079,635,922 including Shoprite Holdings and K30,296,950,482 excluding Shoprite Holdings.

In 67 trades recorded today, 138,172 shares were transacted resulting in a turnover of K298,587. Share price gains were recorded in COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION of K0.04, in LAFARGE of K0.15 and in ZAMBIA SUGAR of K2.00. Trading activity was also recorded in AIRTEL, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES and ZANACO. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 5,577.51 points, 2.99% up from its previous close of 5,410.64 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K 65,078,835,922 including Shoprite Holdings and K30,296,150,482 excluding Shoprite Holdings

Tuesday 16th

In 175 trades recorded today, 33,061 shares were transacted resulting in a turnover of K67,553. A share price loss was recorded in COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION of K0.10. Trading activity was also recorded in AIRTEL, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, INVESTRUST, LAFARGE, PAMDOZI, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, SHOPRITE HOLDINGS, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBEEF and ZANACO. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 5,540.27 points, 0.67% down from its previous close of 5,577.51 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K65,078,835,922 including Shoprite Holdings and K30,296,150,482 excluding Shoprite Holdings.

Trading activity was also recorded in AIRTEL, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, LAFARGE, PAMDOZI, PUMA and STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 5,577.69 points, 0.02% down from its previous close of 5,578.63 points. In 65 trades recorded today, 248,665 shares were transacted resulting in a turnover of K625,452. A share price gain was recorded in ZAMBEEF of K0.09. A share price loss was recorded in AIRTEL of K6.00. Trading activity was also recorded in COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, LAFARGE, ZAMBIA REINSURANCE, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES and ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 5,440.89 points, 2.51% down from its previous close of 5,577.69 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K64,482,688,087 including Shoprite Holdings and K29,700,002,647 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
