Three weeks into August 2023, trading on the Lusaka Securities Exchange, we see yet another mundane week as it was once again the bond market that dominated the Capital market recording a 100% score. In comparison to the third week of August 2022, which had the bond market record a 98% to 2% on the equities market.
Equity Market
In the week ended 18th August 2023, a total of 315,817 shares were transacted in 307 trades, yielding a market turnover of K1,452,594.96. Trading activity was recorded AIRTEL NETWORKS, BATA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION ZAMBIA, CHILANGA CEMENT, INVESTRUST BANK, NATIONAL BREWERIES, REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT HOLDINGS ZAMBIA, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA FORESFRRY and FOREST CORPORATION, ZAMBEEF, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA INVESTMENTS on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 8,698.86 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K79,442,636,666.94 including Shoprite Holdings and K44,659,951,226.94 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K686,774,000 were transacted in 32 trades, resulting in a market value of K454,433,840.
