It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the 2022 edition of the agricultural and commercial cooperative society of Zambia limited media training. The theme for this year’s show is “innovation through technology – technology transforms businesses”.
As the show society we value this training as it is aimed at enhancing the publicity of the forthcoming 94th agricultural and commercial show set for 27th july to 1st august 2022. As we are all aware, the show has not been held in the past two years due to the covid-19 pandemic, therefore, we have a huge task of informing the masses that the show is back and it is here to stay.
The media workshop was conceptualised in year 2016 as a platform for journalists to have robust interactions, exchange ideas, and engage well with the show society in order to enhance your overall professional competence, which is of critical importance to the development of the national agricultural and commercial show and nation development at large.
I am therefore pleased to inform you that the show society will not only sustain this platform but has plans to upgrade it as one of its core programmes in appreciation of the strategic role of the media in the promotion of our shows. This training does not end here but further goes to the awarding of deserving journalists, for your outstanding contributions to promotion of the national agricultural and commercial show. I am pleased to inform you that this year, we have added more awards to the list of categories and the prize money has been increased.
Distinguished media personnel, Zambia among other countries was seriously hit by the covid-19 pandemic and it was therefore difficult for the society to host the annual show which pulls a lot of crowds. However, with experiences from international, regional and local partners, the society has adopted different ways of hosting the trade show during and post covid-19 and firmly believes that after two years of silence, good business will be recorded during this year’s show.
At this juncture, i wish to express my profound gratitude to you the media, who have identified with us and continued supporting our vision for a better show society, through proactive and responsible journalism.
