During the 19th Agricultural and Commercial show, a short interview was held between Mwelwa Chibesakunda, the founder of Financial Insight Zambia (FiZ), and Mr. Mwape Mwanza. Mr. Mwanza is the senior manager in charge of agency development at Prudential Life Assurance Ltd. The A&C Show is an annual event and the largest exhibition center in Zambia, representing a great opportunity for internationally affiliated and accredited industry experts to network and discuss updates and opportunities within the agricultural sector.
During the interview, Mr. Mwanza noted that Prudential has been around for a considerable amount of time and that the organisation is not only the number one insurer in Zambia but is also performing well. Prudential has moved from fourth position to first in market leadership, an exponential growth that has seen its customer base grow from strength to strength. The company has invested time and effort in strengthening their processes in order to meet the demands of their customers.
Mr. Mwanza noted that Prudential has faced numerous challenges, one of the most painful being COVID 19 which affected everyone in the industry. He pointed out that Prudential have been innovative, which not only allowed them to ride the Covid 19 tide successfully, but also enabled them to continue providing financial solutions for their customers with minimal disruption. This has contributed to the company’s growth.
Mr. Mwanza stated that the year 2023 is particularly special for Prudent—the company is celebrating 75 years of existence in Asia and Africa. Its origin story in Zambia is especially inspiring because within six years of setting up in the country, the company was already changing lives through their offer of quality products and services that aligned with the needs of their customers. This experience has made Prudential develop a deep and keen understanding of the divers of its customers’ needs.
Concluding the interview Mr. Mwanza stated that for over 75 years the company has been empowering its customers, enabling them to realise positive business experiences, something that he attributed to Prudential’s ability to transfer robust, financial knowledge to the disposal of their customers, and thereby driving their financial decisions.
