Two weeks into the month of June 2021 bond trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange, there was very little trading activity on the bond market as only one day recorded trades which was quite the opposite for the equities market as there was a significant amount of trading as Twenty-one companies securities’ recorded trades. Even with this being the case the bond market completely eclipsed the equities market recording a score of 99% to 1% which is a decrease from the second week of June 2020 which recorded 93% on the bond market to 7% on the equities side.

In the week ended 11th June 2021, a total of 356,306 shares were transacted in 192 trades, yielding a market turnover of K955,882. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES LIMITED ZAMBIA ,AIRTEL, BATA, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION ZAMBIA, INVESTRUST, LAFARGE, , NATIONAL BREWERIES, PAMODZI, PUMA, REAL ESTATE INSURANCE ZAMBIA, STANDARD CHARTED ZAMBIA, SHOPRITE HOLDINGS, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBIA SUGAR, ZAMBIA FORESTRY and FOREST CORPORATION, FIRST QUANTUM MINERALS and COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 4,267.84 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K58,829,076,839 Including Shoprite Holdings and K24,584,436,064 excluding Shoprite Holdings.

Bonds of total face value of K251,505,000 were transacted in 2 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K149,746,000.
