Liquid Telecom Zambia has entered into a neighborhood identification memorandum of understanding with Lusaka City Council.
“Liquid Telecom Zambia signed an MOU with the Lusaka City Council to provide neighborhood identification signage around Lusaka”, read a statement from Mark Townsend CEO of Liquid Telecom in a LinkedIn post on 27th July 2020.
The project will ensure clear demarcation of the areas in Lusaka and falls under Liquid’s CSR initiatives around Health, Safety, and Education. Mark who enjoys a cordial relationship with the Mayor of the City of Lusaka, Miles Sampa, was delighted to have engaged with his worship. “Was great catching up with his Worship, the mayor of Lusaka Miles Sampa today”. The neighborhood signage will also give Liquid’s “customers an opportunity to clearly identify their high-speed GPON fibre and wireless 4G LTE coverage areas within the city”.
GPON, which stands for Gigabit-Capable Passive Optical Network is a point to multipoint communication system that offers great range, faster speeds, reduced costs, and flexible infrastructure capacity.
Mark’s team is clearly focused on the customer. Recently, the executive team was “spotted” in their call centre taking customer queries which was indicative of a management team that was customer-centric. This latest announcement further reaffirms their commitment to enhancing the customer experience by introducing innovations that not only make the Liquid brand more visible but also more identifiable and accessible to consumers.
According to Liquid’s Head of Products and Innovation, Mike Siachitema, sponsoring neighborhood identification has been something that has been in the pipeline for some time and Liquid will be working closely with the council’s planning department.
