In the first week of March and end of February 2022 trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange. We finally begin to see trading activity on the bond market as Friday recorded trades breaking the streak of several weeks of not recording bond trading activity. The bond market recorded a score of 56% score to 44% on the equities market.
In comparison to the first week of March 2021 which recorded a 86% on the bond market to 14% on the equities side.
Equity Market
In the week ended 04th March 2022, a total of 5,264,660 shares were transacted in 548 trades, yielding a market turnover of K13,968,517. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES CORPORATION LIMITED, AIRTEL, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, FIRST QUANTUM MINING ZAMBIA, PAMDOZI, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBIA FORESTRY CORPORATION, ZAMBEEF, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,486.31 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K69,061,106,498 including Shoprite Holdings and K34,278,421,058 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K13,900,900 were transacted in 11 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K17,880,000.
