Three weeks into the month of October 2022, trading on the Lusaka Securities Exchange. We see the the bond market record a 97% score to 3% on the equities side. In comparison to this time last year we see the complete opposite as the equity market recorded a 100% score. In regard to the equity market Zambian Breweries Plc recorded the highest turnover during the week.
Equity Market
In the week ended 21st October 2022, a total of 1,353,905 shares were transacted in 246 trades, yielding a market turnover of K6,344,906. Trading activity was recorded in AIRTEL NETWORKS, BATA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, INVESTRUST BANK, TAJ PAMDOZI HOTELS, PUMA ENERGY, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK ZAMBIA, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA INVESTMENTS on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 7,233.72 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K72,418,746,522 including Shoprite Holdings and K37,636,061,082 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K266,450,000 were transacted in 26 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K190,721,510.
