Financial Insight Analysis
A depreciating currency poses challenges when sales of local securities are made in the local currency. We have observed the frequency of exchange rate changes has the impact of influencing the amount shares are bought for especially if a player in the market is a foreign investor. On the companies traded side, Zambia Sugar and Lafarge dominated trades with Zambia Sugar generating the highest turnover by a company during the week. CEC Zambia which in recent weeks had been trading the most came in 3rd as traders showed signs of shying away from the security for the first time in as many weeks.
