Listed metal fabrication company, ZAMEFA Plc, has announced the resignation of its Managing Director, according to a statement from the company.
“Pursuant to section 3.59 of the LuSE Listing Requirements, the Board of Directors of Metal Fabricators of Zambia Plc (“the Board” or “Zamefa”) wishes to announce the resignation of Mrs Roseta Chabala as Managing Director of the company effective 4 May 2021”, read a statement issued by BDO Zambia Limited who are the metal fabricators Company Secretary on 9 June 2021 in Lusaka.
Roseta who also sits on the Bank of Zambia Board, has an MSc. in International Trade Policy and Trade Law from Lund University and an Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with Eastern and Southern African Management Institute has over 16 years of rich experience in Policy analysis, Trade Policy formulation, Strategic Planning, Business & New Markets Development, Product Differentiation & Brand Management, and Key Operational Management, according to her profile on the ZAMEFA website.
In their most recent SENS announcement on financial performance published on 21 May 2021, “for the six-month period ended 31 March 2021 the loss per share (“LPS”) for the Group and the Company improved by 93% from the LPS achieved in the corresponding period of the prior year”. Furthermore, “revenue is 189% higher than achieved in the same period of 2020 mainly due to the impact of a significant portion of the groups revenue being earned in USD and as the kwacha has depreciated 48% against the United States dollar since the comparative period, the pass through to customers of a 27% increase in the copper price and a 70% increase in volumes compared to the first half of the prior financial year”.
The company has indicated that “a new Managing Director will be appointed in the next few weeks”. However, due to the delay in the appointment of the new Managing Director, the Board announced Louis Johann du Plessis, the marketing Director of ZAMEFA, as acting Managing Director of the company until the appointment the new Managing Director.
“Mr du Plessis has a bachelor’s degree in business leadership. He has been in charge of the marketing department of ZAMEFA for almost 10 years and served on the Board of ZAMEFA for most of this period”.
