On 28th September 2023, American Chamber of Commerce hosted is annual Golf Day at Lusaka Zambia’s Bonanza Golf Estate as part of its continuing efforts to bring value to its membership through networking.
Golf day for AmCham is a premium networking event that brings together the membership as well as key stakeholders to a day of golf and interaction. This year’s event saw a larger number of members participating much to the delight of newly appointed CEO Royd Kapesa in an interview with FIZ.
During an interview with CFO of Financial Insight, Royd shared some of the reasons behind hosting golf day. “It (golf day) is one of big events for the year. It brings the membership together for a day of networking. It is one of those events that brings all of our members together. It is one of the flagship events for the Chamber”.
According to CEO Royd, AMCHAM is centered around five key pillars which include advocacy, business linkages, networking, investments and thought leadership. Golf day is under two pillars of business linkages and networking.
At present, AMCHAM has 124 members from various sectors. It was established by the then Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. According to the CEO Royd, they have an ambitious agenda for 2024 to give value to its membership going forward. “You will see the Chamber have much bigger conversations around trade and in key sectors and industries. We have a lot of plans for projects in specific sectors.”
