Explosives mining Company, AECI Mining Plc has announced the departure of Financial Director and his immediate replacement, according to an issued statement from the company.
“Pursuant to section 3.59 of the LuSE Listing Requirements, the Board of Directors of AECI Mining Explosives PLC (“AECI Mining” or the “Company”) wishes to announce the resignation of Francois Van Niekerk as Financial Director and Member of the Board effective 31st July 2021”, read a statement issued by order of the Board on 27th August 2021.
In the same statement they announced the income director who would replace Niekerk in the same capacity on the Board of Directors of the company. “Furthermore, the Board would like to announce the appointment of Ms Esther Johnson as Financial Director and Member of the Board with effect from 1st August 2021”.
According to the statement, “Ms Johnson qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) in 2002 and also qualified as a Chartered Global Management Accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in London, UK”.
Johnson brings a wealth of experience in the mining industry. “She has worked as an executive in the mining industry since 2008 and has gained valuable experience in platinum and coal operations”.
With commodities such as copper and cobalt enjoying a bullish run, her appointment has brought excitement to the board as she comes with an expansive curriculum vitae. “She will therefore bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to AECI Mining”.
The Board has expressed its gratitude for the services rendered by the outgoing director. “The Board wishes to express appreciation to Mr Van Niekerk for his valued contribution to the Company during his tenure as Financial Director and Member of the Board and wish him continued success in his future endeavours”.
The Board has further expressed confidence in the income director and pledged their full support. “Additionally, the Board would like to congratulate Ms Esther Johnson on her appointment and wishes her the best in this new role”.
