Livingstone celebrated the nation’s heritage over the Independence weekend as the nation’s brightest stars converged on the tourism capital for the annual Mosi Day of Thunder.

Icons Macky2, Bobby East, T-Sean, Chanda Na Kay and Princess Natasha Chansa were among the all-local cast of performance at the Zambian Breweries event to celebrate all that is Zambian, including the local flavour of Mosi Premium Lager, named after the iconic Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls.

Not only was the nation’s largest brewer excited to host the event after a two-year absence but was also pleased to drive tourism traffic into Livingstone for both locals and foreigners.
Ministry of Tourism was glad to see that events such as the Mosi Day of Thunder are being held in the tourist capital of Zambia once again.
“Tourism goes hand in hand with entertainment. The ministry has been categorical with regards to entertainment; this is an event that draws people from far and wide,” said the Minister of Tourism Hon. Rodney Sikumba.
“The Ministry of Tourism wishes to expose talent. The more talent we expose the more visible Zambia becomes,” he added.

Mayor of Livingstone Constance Muleabai said: “We are promoting local artists; we want to campaign for everyone to know that local artists are there and that we can perform, (at the highest level), even as Zambians.”
Livingstone drew an estimated 10,000 people from Zambia as well as Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa to celebrate the Mosi Day of Thunder.
“The Mosi Day of Thunder is a celebration of Zambian arts, music, and culture. The event brings together a number of artists on the stage to celebrate Zambia,” said Zambian Breweries Head of Marketing Sibajene Munkombwe.

Zambian Breweries decided to go with an entirely local line-up to invest more in the local artists and have them perform on this platform. It was an evening lit up by a blend of Zambian culture and local artists performing on the Day of Thunder stage.
