Three weeks into the month of January 2022 on the Lusaka Stock Exchange and there is no trading activity on the bond market as it has been three consecutive weeks of no trades being recorded. The equities market recorded a 100% to 0% on the bond market. In comparison to week three of January 2021 we see the complete opposite as it was the bond market that dominated the capital market.
Equity Market
In the week ended 21st January 2022, a total of 6,134,598 shares were transacted in 367 trades, yielding a market turnover of K21,560,912. Trading activity was recorded in AIRTEL, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, SHOPRITE, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBIA FORESTRY CORPORATION, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,143.69 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K67,879,227,814 including Shoprite Holdings and K32,766,737,250 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
