In the third week of the month of June 2021, for the very first time this year the equities market completely dominated the bond market record a 100% to 0% on the bond market. This has not happened in a while, this s due to the fact that the bond market did not record trades throughout the week and the equities market recorded substantial trades as eighteen companies’ securities recorded trades. In week three of June 2020 the equities market recorded a score of 40% to 60% on the bond market which was fairly good as well.
Equity Market
In the week ended 18th June 2021, a total of 176,677 shares were transacted in 163 trades, yielding a market turnover of K378,912.26. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES LIMITED ZAMBIA , AIRTEL, BATA, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, LAFARGE, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, NATIONAL BREWERIES, PUMA, REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT ZAMBIA, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA METAL FABRIATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBIA SUGAR, ZAMBIA FORESTRY and FOREST CORPORATION and FIRST QUANTUM MINERALS ZAMBIA. The Index (LASI) closed at 4,386.35 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K59,346,206,049 including Shoprite Holdings and K25,101,565,274 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Puma plc. recorded the highest Weekly volume throughout the week while Zambia Sugar recorded the highest turnover.
