In the final week of June 2023, trading on the Lusaka Securities Exchange we take a look at how the Bond market and Equity market performed against each other. The bond market recorded a 99% score to 1% on the equity market, this is a six percentage increase from its performance last year of 93% to 7%.
Equity Market
In the week ended 30th June 2023, a total of 2,042,814 shares were transacted in 343 trades, yielding a market turnover of K3,577,987.29. Trading activity was recorded AECI MINING EXPLOSIVES, AIRTEL NETWORKS, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION ZAMBIA, CHILANGA CEMENT, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED, PUMA ENERGIES, REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT HOLDINGS ZAMBIA, SHOPRITE HOLDINGS, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA INVESTMENTS on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 8,238.86 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K76,793,950,255.85 including Shoprite Holdings and K42,011,264,815.85 excluding Shoprite Holdings.

Bonds of total face value of K4764,807,000 were transacted in 76 trades, resulting in a market value of K499,072,080.
