In the first week of August 2022, bond trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange. The bond market completely dominated the equities market recording a 100% score. In comparison to the first week of August 2021, we see that the complete opposite as it was the equities market that recorded a 100%. We see more trading activity on the bond market this time around in comparison to last year, this may be attributed to the increase in investor confidence as a result more purchases of government securities.
In regard to the equities market, Real Estate Investment Zambia recorded the highest turnover during the week.
Equity Market
In the week ended 05th August 2022, a total of 595,368 shares were transacted in 488 trades, yielding a market turnover of K977,233. Trading activity was recorded in AECI MINING EXPLOSIVES, AIRTEL, BATA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, PAMDOZI, REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT ZAMBIA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBEEF, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,916.74 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K71,039,000,378 including Shoprite Holdings and K36,256,314,938 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K426,586,000 were transacted in 35 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K291,753,540.
