Three weeks into the month of March 2022 trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange. We see more trading activity on the bond market as we see several days recording trades. The bond market completely dominated the equities market recording a 98% to 2% on the equities market. In comparison to this time last year we see the bond market recorded a 100% score.
Equity Market
In the week ended 18th March 2022, a total of 1,153,155 shares were transacted in 513 trades, yielding a market turnover of K3,845,083. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES CORPORATION LIMITED, AIRTEL, BATA, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR, FIRST QUANTUM MINING ZAMBIA and CEC AFRICA on quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,651.19 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K69,780,570,745 including Shoprite Holdings and K34,997,885,305 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K242,936,000 were transacted in 46 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K171,267,310.
Week two remains the best performing week of the month thus far.
