In the third week of March 2023 trading on the Lusaka Securities Exchange, we see more trading activity on the equity market as it recorded a 38% to 62% on the bond market. In comparison to around this time last year we see the equity market record a 2% to 98% on the bond market.
Equity Market
In the week ended 17th March 2023, a total of 29,303,771 shares were transacted in 403 trades, yielding a market turnover of K127,133,602.23. Trading activity was recorded in CHILANGA CEMENT, PUMA ENERGY, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO and ZAMBIA SUGAR as well as CEC AFRICA INVESTMENTS on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 7,341.41 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K72,887,501,109.89 including Shoprite Holdings and K38,104,815,669.89 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K345,452,000 were transacted in 66 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K209,560,180.
