Two weeks into the month of July trading on the Lusaka Securities Exchange, in the battle of opposites we take a look at how the bond market and equity market performed. Yet another week of the bond market holding it’s glory as it recorded a 99% score. which is a 1% increase from last year is performance which was a 98% score on the bond market to 2% on the equites side. Regarding the equity market Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc recorded the highest turnover during the week.
Equity Market
In the week ended 14th July 2023, a total of 1,251,316 shares were transacted in 322 trades, yielding a market turnover of K2,628,302.42. Trading activity was recorded AECI MINING EXPLOSIVES, AIRTEL NETWORKS, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION ZAMBIA, CHILANGA CEMENT, NATIONAL BREWERIES, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED, PUMA ENERGY, REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT HOLDINGS ZAMBIA, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA FORESTRY and FOREST CORPORATION, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 8,231.98 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K76,744,981,211.35 including Shoprite Holdings and K42,962,295,771.35 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K 716,261,000 were transacted in 70 trades, resulting in a market value of K474,010,440.
