In accordance with the Lusaka Securities Exchange (“LuSE”) Listings Requirements, the Board of Directors of British American Tobacco Zambia PLC (“BATZ” or “the Company”) hereby advises the Shareholders of the Company that the Earnings per Share and Headline Earnings Per Share for the financial year ended 31 December 2022 are expected to be approximately 47% higher than for the financial year ended 31 December 2021.
The movement in profitability is attributed to improved volume performance across the entire portfolio. The improvement was driven by product availability following investments made in machinery. Additionally, the Company benefitted from exchange rate gains in the first half of the year which resulted in some savings on the cost base.
Shareholders are advised that the information contained in this Trading Statement has not been reviewed nor reported on by the external auditors of the Company.
The Company expects its results for the financial year ended 31 December 2022 to be released on SENS on or around 24th March 2023. Accordingly, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Company’s securities until the publication of the results.
