In a magnificent turn of events, the final week of May 2020 bond trading on the LuSE has closed the month of May with a bang. For the very first time this year we see the equities market finally turn around as it recorded a staggering score of 63% to 37% on the bond market. Hoping this is the kick start the equities market needed to keep the ball rolling and hold its glory.
Equity Market Update
In the week ended 29th May 2020, a total of 5,181,366 shares were transacted in 54 trades, yielding a market turnover of K39,304,944. Trading activity was recorded in AEL ZAMBIA, CEC ZAMBIA, LAFARGE, ZAMBIA BREWERIES and ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES. The Index (LASI) closed at 4,024.34 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K56,336,993,780 including Shoprite Holdings and K22,097,787,800 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
In the final week of May 2020 trading on the LuSE we could track The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) throughout the month of May. In the first week LASI scored 4,094.16 points going into week two it scored 4,082.86 points here we see a point drop of 11.3 points. In week three the LuSE All Share Index closed at 4,078.25 points, we see another point drop from the previous week of 4.61. Into the final week of May LASI closed at 4,024.34 points another point drop of 53.91 points from week three. Week one of May closed with the highest points.
Bond Market Update 29th May 2020
During the week, bonds of total face value of K47,627,000 were transacted in 5 trades, yielding a market value sales of K23,457,000. Week three remains the best performed week of the month of May 2020 Bond trading, followed by week four there after.
