In the final week of April, the the bond market does not completely eclipse the equities market recording a score of 99% to 1% on the equities market.
Equity Market Update
In the week that ended 30th April 2020, a total of 450,250 shares were transacted in 28 trades , yielding a market turnover of K477,672 . Trading activity was recorded in CEC ZAMBIA, AEL ZAMBIA , ZCCM, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES and STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED. The index (LASI) closed at 4,149.17 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K56,878,720,993 including Shoprite Holdings and K22,639,515,013 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
As we come to the end of April, we can track the LuSE All Share Index (LASI) for each week of the month of April. In the first week LASI closed at 4,233.69 points and going into week two it closed at 4,152.07 here we see a point drop of 81.62 points. Week three closed with 4,140.56 points from week two depicting another point drop of 11.51 points. In the fourth week , LASI closed at 4,145.82 points we see a point gain of 5.26 points and ending the month in the fifth week the LASI closed at 4,149.17 points another point gain from the previous week of 3.35 points.
Bond Market Update 30th April 2020
During the week , bonds of total face value of K50,247,000 were transacted in 17 trades , yielding a market value sales of K33,055,730. The fifth and final week of April 2020 bond trading has outperformed the prior weeks of the month. In comparison to the month of March, April has recorded better bond trading.
