Four weeks into the month of January 2022 trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange and yet another mundane week as there was no trading activity on the bond market. Leaving the equities market to eclipse the bond market recording a 100% to 0%.
In comparison to the fourth week of January 2021 which recorded a 99% on the bond market and a 1% on the equities side.
Equity Market
In the week ended 28th January 2022, a total of 1,387,654 shares were transacted in 590 trades, yielding a market turnover of K8,684,471. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES CORPORATION LIMITED, AIRTEL, BATA, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION,CHILANGA, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, NATIONAL BREWERIES, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR, ZAMBIA FORESTRY CORPORATION, FIRST QUANTUM MINING and CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,013.80 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K67,879,227,814 including Shoprite Holdings and K32,199,939,029 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
