-Speech By Znbs Managing Director Mrs. Mildred Mutesa Read On Her Behalf By Znbs Director Risk Mr. Elijah Chulu
The Board and Management of Zambia National Building Society (The Society) is committed to the fight against corruption and related malpractices. The Society takes a zero tolerance to corruption and maladministration and it is for this reason that the Institution established an Integrity Committee in 2019, in line with the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
The Integrity program was launched by the Board of ZNBS on 3rd June 2020 and a virtual re-launch was conducted on 6th August 2021 due to the COVID restrictions, this was undertaken to ensure that the integrity program was visible to all members of staff given the seriousness that the Society attaches to this program.
THE BOARD AND MANAGEMENT
As stated the ZNBS Board has set a clear and strong tone with regards to the role of Integrity Committee and Integrity program through the launch by the Board Chairperson in 2019 and a re-launch which was undertaken in August 2021. Our Board has also shown further commitment by appointing one of its members to oversee the smooth operations of the integrity program and provide support where required.
INTEGRITY PROGRAM
The Society integrity program is comprised of 8 Integrity Committee members based here in Lusaka at our Head Office and a further 18 focal point persons from our Branches outside the Capital City.
TO THE COMMISSION
Today we are elated that the Commission has once again come in to train our focal point persons from all our branches outside Lusaka. This will help in spreading the fight against corruption in all provinces where the Society has a presence.
As the Society, we wish to thank the Commission for the assistance and guidance that has been provided to the Integrity Committee through your able Desk Officers and all the facilitators. The Integrity Committee has been able to come up with an Annual Corruption Prevention Action Plan and render annual reports to the Commission. Some of the planned activities, could not be undertaken in 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic restrictions as already stated.
It is our hope however, that the Commission will continue giving us the necessary guidance as we strive towards a fully-fledged integrity program with the training of our staff today.
TO THE PARTICIPANTS
I wish to commend all our staff who have travelled from all the branches across the country. It is our expectation, that the knowledge that will be imparted in you today, will be passed on to your colleagues and together make a difference in the conduct of your operations and interaction, with our esteemed customers and stakeholders. The integrity of the Zambia National Building Society starts with yourselves.
This is just the beginning, and we are sure the Commission will from time to time provide refresher courses, to keep us in tune with developing trends, in so far as the fight against corruption and maladministration is concerned.
I wish you an interactive training experience and for any assistance that you may need, the Board and Management is at hand to assist.
Once again, I would like to thank the Acting Director General and the ACC as a whole, for their assistance, on behalf of the Board and Management of ZNBS, and look forward to continued collaboration in the fight against corruption.
I THANK YOU
