Four weeks into February 2021, and the equities market has completely underperformed throughout the course of the month. Only week two recorded a 9% to 91% on the bond market. Every other week the bond market completely dominated the equities’ market as we also see with the final week of February 2021 bond trading. As we recorded a 100% to 0% on the equities side which was also the case for the fourth week of February 2020.
Equity Market
In the week ended 26th February 2021, a total of 103,279 shares were transacted in 107 trades, yielding a market turnover of K185,713. Trading activity was recorded in CEC ZAMBIA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, SHOPRITE HOLDINGS, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBIA SUGAR. The Index (LASI) closed at 3,983.90 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K57,665,804,485 including Shoprite Holdings and K23,432,033,300 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K251,111,000 were transacted in 19 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K118,002,000.
Week two has remained the best performing week throughout the month of February 2021.
