Four weeks into the month of February 2023, trading on the Lusaka Securities exchange. Yet another week where bond trades and equity trades go against each other on the capital market. The bond market recorded a 100% score to 0% on the equity market. In comparison to week four of February last year we can see it was quite the opposite as it was the equity market that recorded a 100% score. Regarding the equity market Copperbelt Energy Corporation Zambia recorded the highest turnover during the course of the week.
Equity Market
In the week ended 24th February 2023, a total of 208,497 shares were transacted in 351 trades, yielding a market turnover of K646,016.40. Trading activity was recorded in AECI MINING EXPLOSIVES, AIRTEL NETWORKS, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION ZAMBIA, INVESTRUST ZAMBIA, CHILANGA CEMENT, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, NATIONAL BREWERIES, PUMA ENERGY, STANDARD CHARTERED BANK LIMITED, ZAMBEEF, ZANACO, ZCCM INVESTMENT HOLDINGS, ZAMBIA SUGAR as well as CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 7,249.62 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K72,487,995,255.28 including Shoprite Holdings and K37,705,309,815.28 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K1,268,056,000 were transacted in 49 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K823,152,000.
