A week into the second quarter of the year, the bond market is still holding its glory as it recorded a score of 81% to 19% on the equities side, dominating the capital market. During the week Copperbelt Energy Corporation recorded the highest turnover as well as share volume.

In the week ended 08th April 2022, a total of 3,625,920 shares were transacted in 367 trades, yielding a market turnover of K11,417,299. Trading activity was recorded in AFRICA EXPLOSIVES CORPORATION LIMITED, AIRTEL, BATA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, INVESTRUST, CHILANGA CEMENT, AFRICA EXPLOSIVES CORPORATION LIMITED, AIRTEL, BATA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, PUMA, REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT ZAMBIA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBEEF, ZAMBIA METAL FABRICATORS, ZANACO, ZAMBIA CONSOLIDATED COPPER MINES, ZAMBIA SUGAR, FIRST QUANTUM MINING ZAMBIA and CEC AFRICA and LUSE on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,973.40 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K71,169,880,236 including Shoprite Holdings and K36,387,194,796 excluding Shoprite Holdings.

Bonds of total face value of K66,165,000 were transacted in 28 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K49,705,000.

REAL ESTATE INVESTMENTS ZAMBIA PLC
In accordance with the Lusaka Securities Exchange Listings Requirements, the
Board of Directors advises the Shareholders of Real Estate Investments Zambia PLC (“tthat for the year ended 31 December 2021, the basic loss per share is expected to
be 985% lower than for the corresponding period last year. The drop in earnings is primarily attributed to the significant loss in fair value on investment properties particulary on the Arcades Shopping Centre which was negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the appreciation of the Zambian Kwacha at the year end. The centre’s rental generating capacity reduced as most tenants were still recovering from the second and third wave of the Covid pandemic.
At the Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) held on 31st March 2022 in Lusaka, a Final Dividend of ZMW 0.96 Ngwee per share for the financial year ended 31st December 2021 was approved by the Shareholders of AECI Mining Explosives PLC (“AECI Mining”).
In accordance with the requirements of the Securities Act No. 41 of 2016 of the Laws of Zambia and the Listings Rules of the Lusaka Securities Exchange, notice is hereby given that the Final Dividend shall be payable to shareholders registered in the Company’s books at the close of business on Friday 6th May 2022 being the record date.
