In the battle of opposites in the final week of July 2022, trading on the Lusaka Stock Exchange. The bond market recorded a 96% to 4% on the equities side, with on two days recording trades on the bond market. Regarding the equities’ market Zambia National Commercial Bank recorded the highest turnover during the week.
In comparison to this time last year, the equities market completely dominated the capital market recording a 100% score.
Equity Market.
In the week ended 29th July 2022, a total of 800,122 shares were transacted in 410 trades, yielding a market turnover of K2,344,771. Trading activity was recorded in AECI EXPLOSIVES LIMITED, AIRTEL, BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION, CHILANGA CEMENT, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, NATIONAL BREWERIES, PAMDOZI, PUMA, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZCCM INVESMENT HOLDINGS, ZAMBIA FORESTRY and FOREST CORPORATION, ZAMBEEF, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 6,889.66 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K70,921,149,945 including Shoprite Holdings and K36,138,464,505 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K84,930,000 were transacted in 3 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K58,778,670.
Week four of July remains the best performing week of the month.
