As there has not been any significant movement or change on the equities market as the bond market completely overlaps the equities market. We usually see a turn of events towards the end of the month which has not happened yet, hoping to see the equities market redeem itself in the final week. The bond market completely dominated the equities market, recording a score of a 100% to 0% respectively.
Equity Market
In the week ended 23rd October 2020, a total of 22,066 shares were transacted in 47 trades, yielding a market turnover of K83,780. Trading activity was recorded in AEL ZAMBIA, AIRTEL, CEC ZAMBIA, LAFARGE, STANDARD CHARTERED ZAMBIA, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES ZAMBIA FORESTRY and FOREST CORPORATION, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR and CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The Index (LASI) closed at 3,806.88 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K55,874,137,545 including Shoprite Holdings and K21,634,931,565 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
During the week, bonds of total face value of K57,676,000 were transacted in 29 trades, yielding a market value sales of K45,294,000.
Week three remains the best performed week of the month of October, in terms of Face value as well as Market sales.

At the Board Meeting held on 23 September 2020, an Interim Dividend of 4.30 Kwacha per share for the half year ended 30 June 2020 was declared by the Board of Directors of AEL Zambia PLC (“AELZ” or “the Company”) (“the Board”).

First Quantum Minerals Limited
First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (“First Quantum” or “the Company”) announced that, following completion of the issuance of its $1,500 million aggregate principal amount of 6.875% Senior Notes due 2027, the financing condition with respect to the Company’s proposed redemption of its outstanding 7.250% Senior Notes due 2022 (the “2022 Notes”) has been satisfied and the Company will redeem the 2022 Notes in full on October 18, 2020.
