SCB – CHANGE IN DIRECTORATE

In accordance with Section 3.59(a) of the Lusaka Securities Exchange Listings Rules (“LuSE Listings Rules”), the Board of Directors (“the Board”) of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia PLC (“SCB” or “the Bank”) wishes to announce the resignation of Ms. Kapambwe Doreen Chiwele from the Board effective 30 September 2022. Furthermore, the Board would like to announce the appointment of Mr. Christopher Ian Egberink as Director of the Board effective 13 December 2022.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the banking industry, Mr. Egberink is a holder of two degrees, a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (1993) and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from UNISA (2001). He is currently employed by Standard Chartered Bank (‘SCB”) South Africa having joined in February 2013. Mr. Egberink is the current Managing Director: Global Banking Head for South and Southern Africa, a Member of the Country Executive Committee (Manco) for SCB SA.

He has extensive Management experience mostly in Client Coverage Team and currently leads a team of 86 members across 6 countries. He has continued to build an independent and competent team of strong performers. Mr. Egberink has previously held the position of Managing Director: Country Head of Global Banking South Africa. He has also worked Absa Capital – Investment Banking Division Coverage under Absa Corporate & Merchant Bank in 2006 where he was responsible for the Investment Banking Coverage, and Corporate Coverage, within the Consumer Goods & Services Sector.
He has a strong client network at strategic/senior management (CEO/CFO) levels, with many of the main listed and large corporate clients across many relevant sub-sectors. He also has transaction execution experience and industry knowledge in various sectors across multiple geographies. He has valuable experience obtained as Acting CEO SCB SA on numerous occasions.

The Board would like to express appreciation to Ms. Kapambwe Doreen Chiwele for her valued contribution to the Company during her tenure as a director and wishes her well in her future endeavours. Furthermore, the Board would like to congratulate Mr. Christopher Ian Egberink on his appointment and looks forward to his contribution to the Company.
