Mwelwa Kenneth Chibesakundam, Lusaka, Tuesday, 11 November, 2024 – In a landmark moment for Africa’s safety community, Zambia Sugar CEO Oswald Magwenzi unveiled he believed was the best way the 2024 congress could be summed up through what he called the “Livingstone Safety Declaration” during the HSENations AfriSafe 2024 Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner on November 8, 2024.
The proposed declaration, presented before Minister of Labour Honourable Brenda M Tambatamba, the AfriSafe board and Safety Congress delegates, sets forth an ambitious vision for comprehensive safety across all aspects of African life:

“A safe continent, safe countries, safe communities, safe food, safe water, safe cities, safe tourist activities, safe homes, safe schools, safe colleges and universities, safe transport and travel, safe workplaces, everything safe.”

Magwenzi, whose company was the event’s headline sponsor, emphasized that the declaration aims to preserve the sanctity of life across the continent. “Following the successful hosting of AfriSafe 2024, we believe this declaration can serve as a rallying point for the entire safety community,” he stated.
