Two weeks into April 2021 bond trading, the equities market is once again completely dominated by the bond market even though the bond market only recorded trades in one day throughout the week. Companies securities continue to record negative earnings .In comparison to week two of April 2020 which recorded a 2% on the equities market and 98% on the bond market.
The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 4,025.25 points which is a point gain of 4.18 points from the previous week.
Equity Market
In the week ended 9th April 2021, a total of 64,115 shares were transacted in 79 trades, yielding a market turnover of K76,087. Trading activity was recorded in CEC ZAMBIA, LAFARGE, and ZANACO. The Index (LASI) closed at 4,025.25 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K57,857,088,385 including Shoprite Holdings and K23,612,447,611 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K608,016,000 were transacted in 12 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K302,061,000.

Shareholders are informed that the High Court of Zambia ruled against Vedanta on 7 August 2019. On 13 August
2019 Vedanta appealed to the Court of Appeal of Zambia against the decision of the High Court of Zambia which
denied them their application to stay the liquidation proceedings and refer the matter to arbitration. The Court
of Appeal on 20 November 2020 ruled in favour of Vedanta and stayed the liquidation proceedings and referred
the matter to arbitration.
