The only listed oil marketing company on the Lusaka Securities and Exchange has announced the appointment of Knight Silumesii as its new CEO following the resignation of Pinchi Simukwai, according to at statement from the company.
“Pursuant to section 3.59 of the LuSE Listing Requirements, the Board of Directors of Puma Energy Zambia Plc (“PUMA” or the “Company”) wishes to announce the resignation of Mr. Pinchi Simukwai as Managing Director and executive director of the board effective 30th April 2021”, read a statement issued by Company Secretary Kalunga Lutato on 5th May 2021. “Furthermore, the Board would like to announce the appointment of Mr. Knight Silumesii as Managing Director effective 3rd May 2021”.
Knight ascends to the Puma top job with an expensive resume that has spanned the better part of the last two decades. “Mr Silumesii has over seventeen years of experience in various portfolios in the petroleum industry, as well the mining industry”.
According to the SENS announcement, “He is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zambia and post graduate of Business Administration from the Copperbelt University”.
Knight also possess intimate knowledge of the company he now takes over. “Prior to his appointment Mr Silumesii served as Puma Energy Zambia Plc’s Country Retail Manager for several years”.
“The Board wishes to thank Mr. Simukwai for his immense contribution to the Company over the past few years and wish him continued success in his future endeavors, as well as to congratulate Mr. Silumesii on his appointment, and looks forward to his contribution to the Company”.
The company will further be looking to Knight to improve the performance of the company even further. According to their last SENS announcement issued early April 2021, “for the year ended 31 December 2020 the Company recorded a profit after tax of K160.18 million compared to K105.55 million recorded in the previous financial year”.
