Lafarge Zambia PLC has announced the appointment of Chibuye M Ngulube as its new company secretary, according to a statement from the company.
“Pursuant to section 3.59 of the LuSE Listing Requirements, the Board of Directors of Lafarge Zambia PLC (“Lafarge” or the “Company”), wishes to announce the appointment of Mrs. Chibuye Mbesuma Ngulube as Company Secretary effective 17 December 2019”, according to a statement issued by Ahmed Khalifa Chief Financial Officer who has been acting in the role of company secretary and issued in Lusaka, Zambia on Friday, 20 December 2019.
Chibuye’s appointment comes a month after the Muna Hantuba led Board announced the resignation of Ms Harriet Kapekele-Katongo as Company Secretary effective 30th November 2019.
Chibuye is a seasoned lawyer. She holds a Law Degree from the University of Zambia and is a practicing lawyer, with over 9 years’ experience in the legal fraternity, according to the SENS announcement. She has practiced in a number of local law firms. “Her career begun in 2010 when she worked for H.H Ndhlovu and Co, she was called to the Bar in 2012. Thereafter, she worked for Theotis Mataka and Sampa Legal Practitioners and finally at Victoria Dean Advocates before joining Lafarge Zambia Plc in the year 2017 as the Litigation and Compliance Manager”.
CEO Jimmy Khan will be pleased to have secured a replacement to long-serving Harriet. His board was ecstatic over the appointment. “The Board would like to congratulate Mrs. Chibuye Mbesuma Ngulube on her appointment as Company Secretary and wishes her the best”.
The next role investors and shareholders will now be patiently waiting for is the Chief Financial Officer role that has fallen vacant for a second time in 2019. The company has not issued a statement on SENS as to who is acting in the CFO role. Based on the move made by the CEO when the role fell vacant the first time, the CEO would assume the role of acting CFO until such a time as when the Board appointed a replacement.
