Food processing and agri-distribution company, Zambeef Plc, has announced the appointment of Mwansa Mutimushi as its Group Head of Legal and Company Secretary.
On 13th January 2021, in an internal memorandum to all staff availed to Financial Insight Zambia by sources close to the matter, the CEO announced the appointment of Mwansa. “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Mwansa Mulumba Mutimushi who joins the business as Group Head of Legal effective January 1st 2021”, read the statement from Walter Roodt.
A fortnight later, in compliance with section 3.59 (b) of the Lusaka Securities Exchange Limited’s Listings Requirements, the Board of Directors (“the Board”) of Zambeef Products Plc (“the Company”) announced the resignation of Mr. Danny Museteka as Company Secretary with effect from 1 February, 2021.
Danny’s resignation opened the door for Mwansa to take over as Company Secretary, a role she is all too familiar with as she had served in the same capacity at Zambia Sugar.
Walter is very confident in Mwansa’s appointment and was very clear in his note to Zambeef employees. “Mwansa brings to the business a profound knowledge of commercial legal acumen from time spent with the Zambian Breweries Group as well as Zambia Sugar Plc., both where she served as Legal Counsel and Company Secretary”.
The allure of bringing Mwansa on board is clearly event. Mwansa, whose education includes a BA in Law from University of Zambia and a Masters from the University of Turin combined with her extensive experience in similar roles. “It is both the depth and breadth of her experience and knowledge that make her ideal to take on such a crucial role”.
Mwansa reunites with her old colleague Faith Mukutu who was CFO at Zambia Sugar during Mwansa’s tenure. She will be responsible for the affairs of the Micheal Mundashi led board. She arrives in a boardroom that is seeking to turn the tide following the K102million loss after tax following a year of accelerating inflation, exchange rate losses and disease pandemic through COVID-19.
