The Lusaka Securities Exchange All Share Index (LASI) has lost approximately 9.4% of its value since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, according to an analysis conducted by Financial Insight Zambia.
In the first week of the year, the LASI was 4246.51 points but depreciated to 3865.40 in the 33rd week of the year (close of July 2020).
June 2020 was the standout month for equities in 2020 as it recorded by far the highest number of trades and yielded the highest turnover. Responsible for this outlier performance were two securities: CEC Zambia which traded K32.9 million worth of shares in week 5 and Zambrew which traded K14.5 million in week 1 and K5.80 million in week 2.
